Sudhmahadev Temple is considered to be 2800 years old, is situated in Udhampur district. This is one of the oldest temples of Lord Shiva in Jammu & Kashmir state.
A prominent legend affirmed with this site is once when Goddess Parvati was in her profound invocation, at that time an evil named Sudheet came to her to pay his courteous salutation, but due to his devilish demeanor, she got a boisterous screech that Lord Shiva got disrupted and when he opened his eyes, he saw a demon and he heaved his trident.
As the trident pierced through him, he initiated reciting Lord Shiva’s name and at that time, he accomplished his aberration and propounded him to get that demon back to the life but he refused and told him that he will attain Moksha by getting killed from Lord Shiva.
