A temple which was envisioned by Raja Jagat Singh in the 17th century and is the oldest synagogue in the valley is none other than Raghunath Temple.

The anecdote behind the construction of this temple is that when a Brahmin was found in the valley with lots of pearls, Raja précised his men to take them away from him. Administered to agony, which he found oppressive, the Brahmin cinched his whole family in his mansion and set it on fire.

The raja was very suppressed with this issue and felt shame about what he had done to the Brahmin. To get over his guilt, he sojourned Shri Kishan Dass Ji Paihari who admonished him to formulate a temple of Lord Rama. Thereafter, he founded the temple by endowing the idol of Raghunath, who is the supervising immortal of the valley, has been illustrated on his chariot in the synagogue.
