History
It is acclaimed as one of the oldest cities in India boasting several historical legends that enriches the Indian culture. The city however, came under the banner of the Mughal dynasty who ruled here till the beginning of the 18th century. After the winning reign of Begum Sultan Jahan, the throne of Bhopal was passed on to her son, Hamidullah in 1926. In was under his rule, that the state signed the ‘Instrument of Accession’ and thus, became part of Indian republic, in the year 1947.

Chowk (Bazaar)
Chowk (Bazaar) is in the heart of the Old City, a wonderful place to buy something and know its daily lives of Bhopal's warm, friendly citizens. There are number of shops that are around for embroidered velvet cushions, tussar silk, silver jewelry, and intricate beadwork.

While visiting to Bhopal, one must visit this old city market and walk around the narrow lanes to see how the old city functions. One can also get some great bargains and discounts on the special arts of Bhopal like the bead work and the hand embroidery.

These lakes have gained highest popularity by its beautiful landscape which is credited as the artwork of Raja Bhoj. The Upper Lake spreads over a 6 sq. km. in area and is partitioned from the Lower Lake by an over bridge. The most exciting part of this lake is that one can get facilities and warrants exciting trips by sail, paddle and motor boats at the Upper Lake. 'Van Vihar' (safari park) and the fish-shaped aquarium are also highly contributed towards its popularity amongst the locals and tourists.

Shaukat Mahal
Shaukat Mahal is a perfect combination of both oriental and occidental architectural styles representing Gothic and post-Renaissance architectural patterns. It is situated at the entrance to the chowk area in the centre of the beautiful city. The white exterior of the building are beautifully carved with exquisite floral patterns, which look unique amongst all the antique monuments of Bhopal.

Bhopal by Air
Bhopal Airport is also known as Raja Bhoj Airport that is located 15 km away from the heart of the city. It is well-connected to Mumbai, Indore, Gwalior and Delhi. International travelers can take connecting flights to Gulf cities like Sharjah and Dubai are operated from Bhopal.

Bhopal by Train
Bhopal Railway Station is a main rail junction – Delhi broad gauge which is well connected trains to all major cities in India.

Bhopal by Bus

Bhopal Weather

Bhopal has two main climates, hot summers and cooling winters.

Summers (March to May) are hot and sweaty with temperature ranging to as high as 43°C and are typically above 24°C.

Monsoons (June to September) are moderate rains due to southwest monsoon. Bhopal in Monsoon rains is like a glittering nature.

Winters (December to February) offers very cold with minimum goes down to chilly 8°C.

The best time to visit Bhopal is from October to March.
