Bharatpur Attractions

Deeg
Deeg is a tiny city that is located once played the role of summer resort of the rulers of Bharatpur. In fact, it was famed as the second capital of the region. This city represents a massive collection of beautiful fortifications, mesmerizing gardens, crafty palaces, and a vibrant market. The Suraj Mal Haveli inside the fortress exhibits typical Bengali curved bamboo roof led by a Bengali architect Vidyadhar Bhattacharya from Jaipur.

Lohagarh Fort
Lohagarh Fort was built in the early 18th century by the Bharatpur Jat ruler King Suraj Mal. It is also known as Iron Fort wherein it withstood repeated efforts by the British to defeat it. Some other monuments like Kishori and Moti Mahal and Kothi Khas are also located in this fort. Additionally, there is an amusing garden in the fort that portrays artistic and aesthetic nature of the rulers.

Lohagarh fort or the Iron fort took its name from its supposedly impregnable defences which are believed to be motivated by a description given in the epic, Ramayana.
The fort was enclosed and defended by deep moats, and as per the legend of ancient time would fall "only when a crocodile swalled up all the water of the moat".

It has a large gate of the Lohagarh that kept an interesting history behind it. Originally, it was belonged to the fort of Chittorgarh but was carried away by Sultan Alauddin Khilji of Delhi.

Victorious Jat armies have carried back it in triumph from the imperial capital of Delhi to Bharatpur.

It has nearest International Airport is Delhi, which is about 184 km away from it. You can hire a taxi that will charge at nominal price.

Bharatpur has a central railway zone that is well connected to Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi and other major cities of India.

Bharatpur has variations between the seasons that are very high

Summers (March to June) in Bharatpur are very hot and temperature ranges in 37 °C to 45°C.
Monsoons (July to September) give some relax from the extreme hot, during this period the average temperature falls down to about 27 °C, with humidity level nearing 70%.

Winters (December to February) are cool with temperature touching down to 7 °C in nights and sometimes it holds temperature up to 40 °C.

The perfect time to visit Bharatpur is between October and March. In Between October to March, you can visit and enjoy many migratory birds’ shelters in Bharatpur Sanctuary.
