Aurangabad can be termed as a gorgeous destination, generally known as a base for a visit to the World Heritage Sites of Ajanta and Ellora. Over the last of the great Mughal Emperors, Aurangabad acclaimed abundance of monuments and a rich culture heritage sites. With the clear vision, they would be better able to control both northern and southern regions of their empires.

Under the control of Aurangzeb, Aurangabad became the powerful empire and controlled over the seat for a short while. During his years in Aurangabad were built such architectural ornaments as the Bibi-ka-Maqbara, a mausoleum with a marked resemblance to the Taj Mahal and a medieval watermill.
Dating back to 1610, when the former Abyssinian slave, at that time prime minister of the Muslim kingdom of Ahmednagar, Malik Ambar found a city on the site of an old village known as Khirki. In 1626, his son Fateh Khan established a city he ruled over named as Fatehpur.

Going back to the region’s history farther back, Buddhism was introduced to this region at the time of reign of the powerful Mauryan Emperors. The kings of the Satvahana and Rashtrakuta dynasties have the Hindu temples of Ellora predate the influx of Buddhism located in the centre of India. The region was considered the safest from the marauding armies of the Afghan and Central Asian raiders.

Aurangabad Attractions

Ajanta Caves
The Ajanta Caves is covered with 30 rocks cut Bhuddhist caves located 106 km from Aurangabad. The fundamental style of design the caves are called ‘Chaitya grihas’ and ‘Viharas’. There are Buddhist five cathedrals caves and the remaining 25 are monasteries.

The Chaityas are big in size, rectangular chambers divided by rows of pillars. They are ornamented by statues and murals portraying the many incarnations of Buddha.

The Vhharas are in the shape of rectangular shaped halls which are attached on both sides in a series of small cells. There is a picture of Buddha is place just opposite to the entrance.

Ellora Caves
The Ellora Caves are to-ranted listed in the world-heritage list in the world. They are situated about 30 km from Aurangabad. Here, the prime attraction of these caves is The Kailash Temple that is the masterpiece of the creator. This temple in the Ellora caves has become the world’s largest and immense sculpture. The shrines are the ideal blend of both Hindu and Jain faiths.

How to Reach Aurangabad

Aurangabad by Air
Aurangabad has a Chikalthana Airport that is 10 km away from the city centre. It is well-connected to other major cities in India: Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Mumbai and Delhi that are available from Aurangabad as regular flights.

Aurangabad By Train
Aurangabad has no direct railway track route. Manmad is the nearest Railway Station which is 120 km away from Aurangabad. From this station, one can take trains to the major cities across the country.

Aurangabad by Bus

Aurangabad has well-organized road transportation that is well connected to all the major towns in the state.

Aurangabad Weather

Usually Aurangabad has moderate temperature with squat humidity.

Summers (March to May) has warm temperature with the average temperature ranging between 37 °C and 21 °C.

Monsoons (June to September) offers some relaxation with average rainfalls but nights are quite pleasant in these seasons.

Winters (November to February) offer very chilly climate with minimum touching only down to 10 °C.

The perfect time to visit Aurangabad is October to March.
