Alappuzha city has been constructed in the 9th century on the edge of the great Ashtamudi Lake that is surrounded by cashew and coconut groves. It s the gateway to the magnificent backwaters of Kerala filled with lotus and lilies and the water-birds flapping their wings.

Alappuzha is a main hub for backwater cruises in Kerala that has a large network of canals. The beautiful temples of Alappuzha symbolize the Kerala style of architecture. Some of the most exquisite specimens of Kerala murals are still preserved here.

There are so many tourist attractions in this destination: Nehru Trophy Boat Race, Kuttanad, Pathiramanal (14 kilometers from Alappuzha), Alappuzha beach, Krishnapuram Palace etc. Among all others, Nehru Trophy Boat Race is a very colourful festival for the people of Alleppey that are considered as the main attraction of which is the sportive sprits among the participants of the race in honour of Panditji who visited Alappuzha.

Kuttanad is a beautiful landscape called the rice bowl of Kerala because of her wealth of paddy crops is at the very heart of the backwaters. The scenic countryside of Kuttanad with its glittering watercourses also has a rich crop of banana.

Alleppey By Air

Alleppey has a railway station that is well connected by train to Cochin and Trivandrum.

Alleppey is a coastal area having a humid all through the year.

Summers (March to May) are a dry and humid climate with maximum temperature reaches to nearly 37°C.

Monsoons (June to September) offers heavy rains

Winters (December- February) have a pleasant weather with temperature between 22°C to 30°C..

The great time to visit Alleppey is from August to February.
